Wendy Carlos's groundbreaking work for Stanley Kubrick's exceedingly controversial film A Clockwork Orange. Carlos's original composition "Timesteps" (Used for part of the Ludovico-treatment scene) is included here in its only release, this is an innovative, dazzling but rarely recorded piece of music. Her famous, surreal Moog® transcription of William Purcell's "March" from "Funeral Music for Queen Mary" is acoustical short-hand for Juvenile delinquency (the untranscribed version is also included for comparison, see below).
The high-light of this release is of course Carlos's transcription and arrangement of Beethoven's 9'th symphony. The nightmare factor is turned up to eleven in this hallucinatory rendition used for the notorious scene from the film where Mr F. Alexander drives Alex to attempt suicide by defenestration by locking him in a room and playing the fourth movement from Beethoven's 9'th at him with a hi-fi. (As an aside, the realistic faller's perspective was achieved by hurling an Arriflex camera out the window!).

Musical Impressionism at its height. Hovhaness almost completely rejected forms and created some of the most unusual musical sounds ever.
A witty piece of music that orchestrally impersonates the sounds of a mechanical typerwriter. While noone would accuse the work of profundity, or indeed any other Anderson it is quite amusing.

This famous piece of music became so associated with the Benny Hill Show that it is often referred to in some sources as the "Benny Hill Theme!" Quintain Tarantino liked it also.:
Rendered ultra famous by the film Fantasia. A film so incredibly ahead of its time, aurally, that special equipment called "Fantasound" had to be created for it's distribution!
Another very famous piece of music that everyone has heard but that no one knows the name of, now you do! Shades of the "Think" music anyone?

The music was composed by Stephen Sondheim for his musical "Company" The recording here was made in 2002 and was taken at the Kennedy Centre. The performing artist is John Barrowman, widely known for his portrayal of immortal-superhero and sexpot-extraordinaire Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and Torchwood
Commentary: Yes. I said John Barrowman. So here we have a wildly gay man singing a song about how he wants to get married... On the other hand, ever heard the term "love of musical theatre"
As featured in 'Who in a Minute: The Stolen Earth'
Note: This artist is sometimes known as Benny Lava
Rising - The Hits of Dschinghis Kahn...
Note: this is a modern cover of the original song, it has better sound.
