Liquids should be kept away from all electronic equipment for the following reasons:
Most liquids conduct electricity. If liquids fall into contact with electronic circuits dangerous energy excursions can occur. You could be shocked and a fire could be ignited. Some computer components contain sufficient voltage to KILL human beings and animals.
For similar reasons, liquid can conduct electricity improperly among circuit components leading to physical damage and/or lost data.
Sticky liquids may leave residues which are difficult to remove. Any colored liquid could stain surfaces.
All of these can lead to wasted money. Electrocution can require medical attention, damaged or destroyed equipment must be replaced and residues may either require specialty cleaning services or equipment replacement.
