It is difficult to express in a few sentences just how vast the improvements to be reaped from the backend upgrade are.
But one is definitely worth pointing out: a native search engine.
Previously, The Vistua Hub relied upon the third-party Atomz search engine to index the site. This did have certain advantages but it was cumbersome for Admin to maintain and didn’t update very rapidly. The new PmWiki engine that now powers the site has its own searching and indexing solution (WikiSearch) which updates instantly.
WikiSearch was silently implemented without any required action on the part of you, the user.
There are, however, two significant limitations of the WikiSearch.
So now we have made some improvements to allow you to do this.
Just before your search results you will see a row of buttons labeled “Find N&N Article” “Advanced Search”, “Google” and “Cuil”
Just click one of those buttons to repeat your search with those search engines. “Find N&N Article” searches only News and Notes and “Advanced Search” searches the whole Vistua Network System, including user blogs.
Google and Cuil are of course major indexes of most of the Internet.
(P.S. for now you still get the buttons even if you entered no search query, we’ll fix that later.)
