Journal: Video Problems Presumed Resolved

By: jzw
Dateline: August 16, 2010, at 11:57 PM UTC

UPDATE: The video problems mentioned are confirmed to be solved.

As of today the Video Problems are assumed to be solved. All related Prs are pending auto-close or are closed.

The affected hardware was replaced and all problems including:

  • Freeze on Logout
  • Performance Regression
  • Freeze on TTY Switch

Are reported solved except "freeze randomly for no reason" which is also assumed solved. Further confirmation as the week progresses.

As an additional benefit of this activity, performance of graphics subsystem operations has greatly improved and various desktop special effects such as animations have activated and general system responsiveness has massively improved as hardware-acceleration has been activated, fully offloading graphics grunt-work onto the new hardware from the CPU.
