The cartridge on the right is the Black and White cartridge (HP cartridge № 21). The cartridge on the left is color (HP cartridge № 22).

You can check if the ink is running low by going to
→ Applications → System → "HP Toolbox".
In the HP toolbox window, click the printer's icon in the left panel and then click "Supplies". The approximate level of ink will be graphically shown.
You can load regular U.S. Letter size paper into the printer by inserting it into the tray and pushing it forward until you feel resistance. If you like you can use fancy paper for effects, remember to set your margins correctly if you have fancy paper with decorative borders. Inappropriate Papers
Inappropriate materials can permanently damage the platen, rollers, cartridge nozzles or other parts and instruments of the printer.
Avoid...
...Residue/lint bearing matter such as cloth or traditional Japanese postcards.
...Coated papers such as thermal printer paper, wax paper, schellaced papers and perfumed paper. As well as certain transparencies
...Coarse materials such as newsprint, construction paper, vellum or papyrus.
Quality card-stock, parchment and photo-paper are safe to use. Lint-free cloth intended for use in printers is usually safe to use.
