Using the PR Drop-box

1.  What is the PR Drop-box?

The PR Drop-box is a special website where you can upload files to an electronic "dead-letter-box" because it is impossible to actually attach a file to an electronic or printed problem report.

2.  Why would I want to do this?

• You may have a screenshot of the problem.
• You may have some kind of log file from the application. That would be very helpful but won't fit conveniently on the PR form/worksheet.
• You find that only one specific file causes the error, it would help immensely to have that file sent with the PR.
• (Small) core dumps could be sent this way. Core Dumps are state files that programs sometimes create when they crash. We can sometimes use them to diagnose problems.
• You may have a detailed description that does not fit conveniently in the PR worksheet or the electronic PR form. Put it in a TXT or OpenOffice document and upload it to the drop box.

3.  What about very large files and big core-dumps?

The drop box can hold only 100 MB so if you have a large file (such as a desktop-publishing file, large core-dump, ISO image or other such thing please email admin@vistua.net¹ for instructions.

4.  How do I upload?

You can upload your attachments through a convenient web interface or by email using copy-and-paste or sending an attachment to vistuaPRdrop.upload@drop.io².

5.  Caution

This is a dead-drop and goes only one way, once your file goes into the drop-box you cannot get it back out, so please keep a copy for yourself if you want one.
