< Scan To A File | Scanner Guide

- Position your material in the scanner, flush against the top right corner.
- Open Xsane, you will find it in
→ Graphics, several windows will now appear, you may dismiss the "Histogram" and "Standard Settings" windows if they appears, you will not need them. You should have a control panel window and a "preview" window. (If you do not have a preview window, you will find it under the "windows" menu on the control panel.
- In the lower-left hand corner of the "preview" window, you will see a widget menu labeled "Full Size" Change this to the size and orientation of your material (usually, letter port). Port means portrait and Land means landscape.

- Across the top, you will see a strip of buttons, click the one highlighted, "Select Visible Area"

- (Optional) Press "Acquire Preview" in the lower left hand side. If you like the preview, go to the next step, if not adjust the Gamma, Contrast and Brightness controls on the dock (See illustration)

- Set the number of copies and set the rest of the panel options as shown [ignore Gamma Contast and Brightness if you did not set them in the previous step.
- Click "Scan".
