Burning Videodisc Images

details→ This Page or Section is Obsolete but is being retained for historical purposes or because it contains some archival or documentary information which may be of later use. Some or all of this information may be irrelevant

Step one

Insert the disc.

Navigate in dolphin to the location where the disc image is. This is usually a folder with the name of the episode located in your video folder or in /sharespace.

Warning: burning a disc image from sharespace over the wifi is a bad idea. Copy it to your local home folder first!

These instructions are for Unices running KDE. Windows instructions forthcoming.

Step two

You will see two files, the "cue" file and the "bin" file. Right click the cue file and select "Actions → Write image with K3b"

Step Three

Leave all the settings as they are

  • Speed: Auto
  • Writing Mode: Auto
  • Image Type: Auto Detection
  • Simulate: Unchecked
  • Copies: 1

Click "Start"

Step Four

If you are prompted to erase or wipe the disc you will need to erase the disc.

If not, don't worry. Just wait. This can take up to 15 minutes, rarely it can take longer.

Step Five

As the image file is quite large we ask that you delete it after you have finished. You may want to wait until viewing the title before deleting the image files as very occasionally the burn process silently fails and you will need the image files to try again.
